About Marco das Três Fronteiras

The Marco das Três Fronteiras is in Porto Meira, about 6 km from downtown Foz do Iguaçu, right where the Iguazú River flows into the Paraná. The Brazilian obelisk was inaugurated in 1903 and, from the railing, you can see the Argentine and Paraguayan landmarks across the water. If you're staying in Puerto Iguazú it has an added twist: you look back at the Argentine Hito Tres Fronteras from the opposite bank.

Today it's a tourist complex with paid entry. Besides the lookout there's a food court, an area recreating a village inspired by the Jesuit Missions, a shop and a children's playground. At sunset, from 18:15, there are open-air music and dance performances included in the ticket, and the Cabeza de Vaca restaurant serves dishes inspired by the three countries. It's an afternoon plan that pairs well with a morning at Itaipu.
