About La Aripuca
La Aripuca is named after a traditional Guaraní trap and recreates it on a giant scale: a 17-metre structure built from about 500 tonnes of native wood salvaged from farms and sawmills, including trunks from trees that were in some cases centuries old. The idea is the reverse of a trap: you should leave more aware of the forest and of Guaraní culture.
Around the main structure there are interpretive trails and several spaces: a stone building with Argentine crafts and minerals, a replica rural house that tells the story of the yateí, a stingless bee, and a hut where members of the Guaraní community sell their crafts. The restaurant, built from ibirá pitá wood, serves lunch daily with a midday show, and the ice cream shop has flavours like yerba mate and rosella. It is a relaxed outing for an unhurried morning or afternoon.
Local tip
